Colour Therapy is an artwork series inspired by “paper tearing” and the therapeutic use of colour. Coloured paper is torn, ripped, overlaid and photographed in a variety of patterns. The resulting audio and visual stimulation is considered to be both therapeutic and encouraging to the development of hand eye co-ordination. The practice is utilised in the assistance of children’s sensory development.
We examined the multitude of arrangements and diverse colour palettes explored through this practice. The variations which emerged provide inspiration for our large-scale public artworks. Colour Therapy invites artwork that is unbounded by conventional form or accuracy, and allows the emphasis to be placed on colour, impact and visual stimulation.
